At R/D/S we understand that shipping is just one step in the process, but it is arguably the most important one. As one of my mentors, Paul Bradley (IDEO/frog design) once said, "there are not innovative ideas, only innovative products". There is nothing like seeing your work in use out in the wild.

Every great product starts with foundational research and immersion. Ethnography, intial spec development, manufacturing research and trend analysis happen at this stage.

Ideation workshops, concept charettes, quick physical mockups, and initial CAD builds occupy the design phase. The goal is to leave no stone unturned.

Where the rubber hits the road. BOM specification, final CAD builds, testable protoypes, final models and renders are created at this stage in the process.

The previous stages are all for nothing if the product doesn't ship. The last 10% can be the most difficult and the result is the most rewarding.
